Night Care

Night care can be beneficial to support a person who may need assistance or reasurance at night. It gives family members peace of mind and respite if needed.

Night care is categorised in 2 ways:

Sleeping night attendance -A carer is allocated a bedroom and will sleep at the client’s home during the night between set hours, rising to assist a client if they are required. There is usually a specified number of attendances agreed upon during the time period.

Waking night attendance - A carer will remain awake throughout the night to monitor a client as required

Some benefits of night care may include:

  • Access to a small team of dedicated carers who rotate their attendance to the client

  • The same person provides the care for continuity, or perhaps a team of the same carers

  • Assistance with personal care should it be required

  • Checking in and reassuring an anxious client if needed throughout the night

  • Monitoring a health condition

  • Peace of mind for relatives who cannot be with a loved one

  • Respite break cover for a live-in carer or a family member so they can have a restful night
