Hello, I’m Helen, the founder and director of AtHome Care Group, and I think it is important for clients and carers to know why I do what I do to help families find the right care.
Dementia is not just something I understand through my work — it is something that has touched my own family.
My family have experienced first-hand how frightening and unsettling those moments of confusion and anxiety can be, not only for the person living with dementia, but also for the people around them who love and support them.
That experience has given me an understanding of how important familiarity, routine, and REALLY good care really are — and really good care is delivered by REALLY great carers.

The reason I started AtHome was to reduce the overall care costs clients often pay, while still ensuring carers are fairly paid.
To do this, we minimise our overheads, help bring down overall costs, and in turn, this helps families make their care budget go further, giving them more options for the future.

Why are our costs different?
We want to make accessing care & support a fair and reasonable price.
Many agencies charge a ‘‘registration fee’’. We don’t - It is FREE to register with us for everyone.
Agencies can charge up to 60% in fees to place your carer, we do not. We want to ensure all workers earn and keep more of their pay, so our fees are ultra-low, which enables us to operate efficiently as well as develop and improve our website, software, and business offering everyone the chance to find reasonably priced, reliable care.
Why does this matter?
The percentage that an agency can charge is important. The more the agency charges, the less your worker will keep and the more you have to pay to attract the right person. Large agencies will often receive the whole payment fee and keep up to 60% whist paying the carer minimum wage - this is simply not fair to you or the carer!
To forge and maintain happy and productive relationships between carers, companions and PA’s with clients and their families, we believe higher carer pay is essential for the great work they do, but we don’t expect the client to pay more - we just ensure we can offer the service for less.
The vast majority of individuals join caring as a passion, but ensuring your chosen worker is getting the best pay, means you are likely to attract a highly committed individual who is loyal and reliable.
How do you manage to reduce your costs so much?
We have streamlined compared to the rest of the UK care industry. With carefully developed technology we have taken out the labour-intensive processes of manually searching and calling through endless lists of individuals for matching. We have minimized the unnecessary paperwork for rota planning among many other cost savings, which are then passed on to you, the client.
Our methods save time and costs and we pass this directly to clients and workers. It also means a quicker, more accessible workforce is available to our clients at the point of need.
